The PRIM Creation Assistance Program is one of PRIM’s oldest programs. Its purpose is to support the creation of independent media works and to encourage the diversity of practices.

ECHOES Creation assistance

PRIM’s “ECHOES” creation assistance program aims to support artists who artists from ethnoculturally diverse backgrounds (people from cultural communities, Indigenous and visible minorities) in the creation and post-production of their media works independent.

Doc at Risk

The purpose of PRIM’s Doc at Risk assistance program is to support the creation of independent documentary works that involve risk, whether in terms of their subject matter, their funding, their formal bias or their examination of cinematic language.

PRIM’s Research and Exploration program aims to support artists in their development phase, when they need to experiment, test ideas, and deepen their approach before creation.

The purpose of PRIM’s Distribution Assistance program is to support the finalization of independent media works and promote their distribution in the best possible conditions.

The purpose of PRIM’s Organization Assistance program is to support non-profit organizations with a cultural, social or community-based focus having a project that helps them carry out their mission.

PRIM Residency

The PRIM residency is offered by invitation only by the Board of directors and its objective is to provide an artist with all the resources of PRIM for one year to produce an original work of art. With a PRIM residency, you have a carte blanche!

PRIM | MAI

Residency

PRIM and the MAI have partnered to offer a joint residency, a year long-term accompaniment to an artist wishing to experiment, develop their skills and create a work in the discipline of new media arts. PRIM is associated with the M.A.I (Montréal, arts Interculturels) artist support program.

PRIM | Dazibao

Dazibao and PRIM have joined forces to offer an artist an exceptional opportunity to produce and distribute a work. The selected proposal takes into account the specificities of both organizations and, as a result, must address the formal and conceptual problems innate to image-based practices while having no qualms about tackling audio, video and digital processing.

PRIM | Codes d’accès

Residency

The PRIM | Codes d’accès residency gives a young audio artist the opportunity to produce a Surround piece, to be broadcast with Codes d’accès. Focusing on mixing and mastering, the selected artist will be able to finalize his or her project in PRIM’s sound lab and benefit from broadcasting as part of Codes d’accès’s regular programming.

RIDM

Grand prix de la compétition nationale longs métrages

This award honors the Best feature film in the national competition. It comes with a grant worth $10,000 in $10,000 in post-production services and $5,000 in filming equipment rental from PRIM.

RVQC

Award for the best work of art and experimentation

20 000$

This prize is awarded each year as part of the Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma. Since 2015, the award presented to the director of the best art and experimental film at RVQC comes with a grant worth of $10,000 in post-production services and $10,000 in filming equipment rental at PRIM

REGARD

Tourner à tout prix Award

6,000$

This award is presented at the REGARD festival for a a6> short film in the category Filming at any cost. It comes with a grant worth $6,000 in imaging services at PRIM.

Plein(s) Écran(s) Festival

Award Best Canadian film

Worth $5,000 in service, this award rewards the best very short film (less than 10 min) from the Quebec Competition of the online festival Plein(s) Écran(s).

Festival des films trans Exposure

Award Best Canadian film

This new award has been presented since 2025 at the Exposures Trans Films Festival for the Best Canadian film. It comes with a grant worth $5,000 in services from PRIM.
