5 ECO-RESPONSIBLE INITIATIVES

Post-production can be costly for the environment, but PRIM’s offer helps to reduce this impact. Here are 5 initiatives we’ve taken to reduce our impact.
1. OUR TECHNICAL MEETINGS
Essential to the smooth running of your projects, these meetings take place upstream of production. They reinforce your preparation, help you choose the right resources for your shoot, and facilitate post-production. Using fewer resources means greater savings and reduced environmental impact. Depending on your type of broadcast, location and equipment, our team will advise you on the best use of resources.
2. ECOLOGICAL INFRASTRUCTURES
Since 2011, we’ve been heated and cooled by our geothermal system: a renewable, sustainable and easy-to-maintain energy source. In Quebec, the temperature of the ground just a few meters below the surface remains stable at around 8°C all year round, making it an ideal source of energy for heating and cooling. We also opted for a white roof, which reflects heat rather than absorbing it. This addition also extends the roof’s lifespan compared with traditional black roofs.
3. LOCATION ACCESSIBLE BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT
PRIM is easy to get to. Frontenac metro station is less than a 10-minute walk away. Our parking lot includes 5 spaces reserved for Communauto cars. For cyclists, our center is located just down from
4. WASTE MANAGEMENT
Of course, we sort our household waste: garbage, recycling and compost. As a non-profit organization, every resource counts. That’s why we take such good care of our equipment. When it’s no longer functional, we recycle it responsibly with theAssociation de Recyclage Électronique. If you have electronic equipment, we’re also a drop-off center for it.
5. DATA MANAGEMENT
Did you know that data accounts for an average of *60% of the energy consumed in the post-production process? To reduce this consumption, we ensure efficient file management. Whether by organizing them, selecting appropriate media or archiving them, we do our best to reduce their energy impact.

With the environmental scope of many of our members’ projects, PRIM strives to practice and encourage responsible practices. We promote eco-responsible practices at every stage of creation, and encourage collaboration with organizations such as On tourne vert and other local groups committed to the ecological transition.
